A Gods General is someone that takes ownership of the invitation from Christ to pursue His plan for their lives.

The Lord Jesus Christ has called us to His own glory and excellence. When we look at great men and woman of God through the ages there is one thing that marked these effective, anointed people’s lives.  They received His glory and pursued His excellence!  Our goal is to know who we are in Christ Jesus; take His Word as our ultimate guideline; receive His glory through the anointing of Holy Spirit; and to pursue His excellence for our own lives!  We are summoned to follow the plan of God. Only when we take ownership of this calling will we live in His glory and excellence. No matter if you are in full time ministry or in the corporate world. Every Christian is called by Christ and has the opportunity to live a chosen redeemer’s life. We have all been given personal ministries and it’s our responsibility to serve others like He served us! It has nothing to do with your background; your status in the world; or position in the church; but rather taking ownership of your calling and going for it.

2 Peter 1: 2-3 ‘Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and   excellence .’ NASU

Matt 22:14 ‘ For many are called (invited and summoned), but few are chosen.’  AMP

Our goal at Awaken Ministries is to assist people in finding their God given goal and to help them become equip and effective wherever they go, bringing glory to God through their lives. It’s not just about receiving the invitation to serve, but to actually follow His plan and purpose! Our aim is to create a place where people can worship and get to know the Lord; and their purpose in Him. Equipping and preparing people for their own ministries in the body of Christ! Enabling them to be just like a Paul or a Deborah and to ultimately follow in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rev 17:14 ‘and those with Him and on His side are chosen and called [elected] and loyal and faithful followers’.

2 Peter 1:10 ‘ Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.’  AMP

NB  Eph 4:11-16  ‘And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head — Christ —‘   NKJV

1 Peter 2:9-10 ‘But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;’  NKJV

2 Peter 1:3-11 ‘His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.Fruitful Growth in the Faith  But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.’  NKJV

Rev 17:14 ‘They will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will triumph over them; for He is Lord of lords and King of kings — and those with Him and on His side are chosen and called [elected] and loyal and faithful followers.’   AMP

2 Peter 1:1-10 ‘SIMON PETER, a servant and apostle (special messenger) of Jesus Christ, to those who have received (obtained an equal privilege of) like precious faith with ourselves in and through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ: May grace (God's favour) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue). By means of these He has bestowed on us His precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them you may escape [by flight] from the moral decay (rottenness and corruption) that is in the world because of covetousness (lust and greed), and become sharers (partakers) of the divine nature. For this very reason, adding your diligence [to the divine promises], employ every effort in exercising your faith to develop virtue (excellence, resolution, Christian energy), and in [exercising] virtue [develop] knowledge (intelligence), And in [exercising] knowledge [develop] self-control, and in [exercising] self-control [develop] steadfastness (patience, endurance), and in [exercising] steadfastness [develop] godliness (piety), And in [exercising] godliness [develop] brotherly affection, and in [exercising] brotherly affection [develop] Christian love. For as these qualities are yours and increasingly abound in you, they will keep [you] from being idle or unfruitful unto the [full personal] knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). For whoever lacks these qualities is blind, [spiritually] short sighted, seeing only what is near to him, and has become oblivious [to the fact] that he was cleansed from his old sins. Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.’  AMP

Rom 5: 3-4 ‘More over [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.
